This open call has been launched in partnership with GAL Terre Locridee , which is providing financial support for the project, and with the Museo e Parco Archeologico Nazionale di Locri Epizefiri , which is hosting the exhibition and supporting its curatorial development.

THE VENUE

The exhibition will be held at the Casino Macrì Museum Complex, within the Locri Epizefiri National Archaeological Park, one of the largest archaeological sites in Calabria.

The Casino Macrì consists of a nineteenth-century farmhouse and two farm buildings constructed on the remains of a private Roman bath complex. Forming part of an extensive network of archaeological and museum trails, the site functions as a place of passage, in direct connection with the landscape and the flow of visitors.

The exhibition will be open to the public from 2 August to 2 September 2026.

PROJECT EXPECTATIONS

We are interested in projects that engage with the space in which they are situated, considering it as a physical, perceptual and temporal context within which the artwork takes shape.

We are interested in research that interrogates the notions of distance, proximity, boundary and crossing, activating them through visual forms and situated experiences.

Photography is perceived as starting point for a hybrid practice, open to dialogue with other visual arts languages.

WHO CAN APPLY

This call is open to artists working in the field of visual arts, with a practice in photography and contemporary image-based languages.

Applications are open to artists aged 18 or over residing in Europe.
Unpublished projects or projects currently in development are eligible.

THE PROJECT PROVIDES

• Production of the exhibition (including prints, display materials and installation)
• Curatorial development of the project in consultation with the selected artist
• Presentation in a museum exhibition space within a nationally significant institutional context
• Coverage of travel, accommodation, and subsistence expenses for the opening
• Inclusion in the official programme of Edizione 2026 and related communication activities

HOW TO APPLY

Applications must be submitted exclusively in digital format.

• Statement (max 2,000 characters) with a conceptual description and development
• Short biography
• Curriculum vitae

There is a registration fee of €20, intended as a contribution to the organisational costs of Ulteriore APS.

TITOLARITÀ DELLE OPERE E DELLE STAMPE

Copyright and intellectual property rights to the works remain with the artist, in accordance with Law No. 633 of 1941 and subsequent amendments.

The prints produced as part of the project are intended for exhibition purposes and, at the end of the exhibition, will remain in the possession of GAL Terre Locridee, which will assume responsibility for their maintenance, conservation and public access, in line with its institutional and cultural objectives.

The transfer of ownership of the physical prints to the GAL does not, under any circumstances, imply the transfer of copyright, which remains entirely with the artist.

Any use of the works other than for the purposes of preservation, exhibition and cultural promotion must be the subject of a separate written agreement with the artist.
